Texas Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation Reporting System - Helpful Hints

Problem: I don't know some people's ages.
Helpful Hint: Please provide an approximate age – even that is helpful.

Problem: I don't know some people's phone numbers.
Helpful Hint: Enter all the same digits - except zero. - Example 111-111-1111

Problem: When I click on back or refresh nothing happens?
Helpful Hint: Do not click the back or refresh button on your Web Browser. These buttons have been disabled as they logged users off the site unintentionally.

Problem: I keep getting timed out.
Helpful Hint: Keep your reporting session active by clicking previous or next or one of the left sidebar links. The system will time out after 40 minutes of inactivity.

Problem: I forgot my user name.
Helpful Hint: You must create another account. Accounts not used after 12 months will be removed from the system.

Problem: I can't print a copy of my report.
Helpful Hint: You can only print a copy of the report on the summary page and confirmation page. Once those windows are closed, you can no longer print the report.

Problem: I am getting error messages.
Helpful Hint: We are aware of this problem and are working to resolve it. If you receive this error message, please send us an email (GCS@dfps.state.tx.us) with the following information:

  1. Which form you used - the one for adults (APS) or children (CPS)
  2. The page you were on.
  3. If this is a page where you can add multiple people, the number of that person, such as second Others with Knowledge.
  4. The field you were attempting to complete.
  5. The error message you received. (The more exact the better.)
  6. The steps you took before receiving the error.

Problem: I cannot click the finish button on the summary page.
Helpful Hint: If you don’t see this button, you have not completed all the required fields. Please review the summary page for red text that will tell you what page is missing information.

Problem: When I enter the funny letters and numbers at the bottom of the registration page and hit "enter," it doesn’t work.
Helpful Hint: After filling in the code, click either "Report Child Abuse" or "Report Adult Abuse" on the page. Hitting the "enter" key on your keyboard will only cause the letters to reset.
